Trash for Treasure.

Today I was making dinner for my mom and I asked my little sister, Hannah, to rinse out the soup cans and put them in the recycling bin. Hannah had a great idea. Instead of getting rid of the cans she wanted to use them to organize her craft section.  So we put our heads together. We found things around the house and used them to make a cute organized place for all of her writing utensils, buttons and glue.  This was a very easy project and it didn’t take long at all. Since we used items that we found around the house, it didn’t cost us a dime.

023This is the part of the craft area that we wanted to reorganize.  We knew that it could look a lot neater.

024 These are the cans that we washed, dried and prepared for spray paining.

029                                  We used this pink color for other things in my sister’s room.

033 We used a hot glue gun to glue ribbon around the top of the inside of the can to prevent anyone from getting hurt from the sharp edges.

035  We used a 9 inch silver ribbon on each can to give it a nice finished look.

038 The new pink cans were a perfect fit in this 6 compartment basket that we found in the basement.

039 Now all of her writing utensils are separated and easier to get too. There was even room left for her buttons and her glue.

042 I love the way it turned out! It adds a little more pink to the room and makes it look more organized.  This was a great trash to treasure project.  It was really quick, easy and fun.  I hope you will also be able to find ways to turn your trash into treasure.

Let me know what you think. :)
